Privacy notice (Datenschutzerklärung)
In short: this site collects as little as possible. There are no accounts, no cookies and no tracking. What you enter into the calculator stays in your browser.

What this site does
- There are no user accounts and no sign-in.
- No cookies are set.
- There is no tracking and there are no analytics tools.
- No third-party content is embedded: no external fonts, scripts, images or videos. Everything is loaded from the same server.
The site stores the numbers you enter into the calculator in your browser's local storage (localStorage), so that they are still there on your next visit. This data does not leave your device and is not sent to the server. The storage is strictly necessary for the function you requested and is therefore permitted without consent under § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG (German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act).
You can delete this data at any time: in your browser settings (delete the site data for cedh.bayescalc.org) or in the calculator with the “Reset to examples” button, which replaces your entries with the example values.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Fly.io, Inc., [address as stated in Fly.io's legal notice], USA. The servers are located in Frankfurt am Main. Fly.io processes the data on my behalf; a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Fly.io (concluded on [date of the DPA]).
When you open the site, Fly.io necessarily processes your IP address as well as request data such as the time, the address requested and technical connection data. This is needed to deliver the site to you and to protect the service against attacks and abuse. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; my legitimate interest is the secure and functioning operation of the website. Without this data the site cannot be delivered.
The web server logs requests only with a shortened IP address (for IPv4 only the first two of four blocks, for IPv6 only the first 32 bits). The browser identifier (user agent) and other headers are not logged. Fly.io keeps these logs for about 7 days. Further information is available in Fly.io's privacy policy and its list of subprocessors (fly.io/legal).
The encrypted connection is accepted at Fly.io network nodes, which, depending on your location, may also be outside the EU; from there the requests are forwarded, encrypted, to the servers in Frankfurt. Since Fly.io, Inc. is a company in the USA, a transfer of personal data to the USA cannot be ruled out. It is based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework [Fly.io's certification to be verified] and on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses agreed in the data processing agreement.
Encryption (TLS)
The site is delivered only over HTTPS; requests over HTTP are redirected to HTTPS. The connection between your browser and the server is encrypted with TLS, so third parties cannot read the content transmitted.
Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to the processing (Art. 21). To exercise them, contact the e-mail address given above. Because the IP addresses are shortened, I generally cannot attribute log entries to a person.
You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the authority where you live.
